Mercedes Sotomayor is a very enthusiastic professional with a strong passion in helping others in their transformation process and their journey towards success and happiness.
She is a qualified Industrial/Organizational licensed psychologist who has over 8 years of experience in various roles. She has worked as an organizational development consultant and has a range of professional experience in business solutions, training, teaching and research. Her focus of work is to help people and enterprises thrive in the midst of organizational change.
Dr. Sotomayor received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in French Language from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 2003. By 2011, she had successfully completed a Master of Science degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Industrial Organizational Psychology; earning in both degrees Suma Cum Laude distinctions from the Carlos Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has participated and presented her research findings in various professional conferences and is affiliated to the American Psychological Association and the Puerto Rican Psychological Association. She has published research in areas such as “mobbing” at the workplace, employee selection methods and intimate relationship violence.
For the last four years, Dr. Sotomayor has been providing professional, timely, practical, and cost-effective organizational consulting and training services to several clients. As a human behavior specialist, Dr. Sotomayor has partnered with clients to design and implement business and cultural transformations. Through these interventions, she has successfully helped employees change their mindset and behaviors to improve efficiency and productivity in different organizational contexts. Mercedes also facilitates workshops and seminars to different organizations throughout Puerto Rico as part of employee assistance programs, fostering employee well being. She has also been a university professor at San Juan University and has offered graduate level courses at the Metropolitan University. Dr. Sotomayor has also collaborated with other consulting firms and organizations within Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands as well as Canada and the United States.
